TE1MV: A tool to view 3D models...
« on: January 16, 2017, 05:42:14 am »
-TE1MV v0.1b- (TEkken 1 Model Viewer)

About: This tool it's an viewer and converter for Tekken [PSX] 3D models of the characters they're stored in *.ARC files. At this point the tool can view and export all characters,  it can export the textures to a single *.TGA 32bpp and the models as a single or multi object *.OBJ file. Unfortunately I couldn't find values that are responsible for the parts positions and because of that parts must be viewed one by one, I'll try to fix that in the future release/s ;)

Note: The game store differently it models comparing to Tekken 2 so they have to be rotated in 3d modeler the tool fix during the preview but not when exporting, maybe I'll write a simple script for 3dsmax that will do the job or update the tool, we'll see.

Finally have fix decompressing bugs that I had and now tool can open and preview all characters that are stored in *.ARC files. Also the good thing is that all three tekkens seems to use same compressing algorithm which is good news for developing future tools  :)

hey leo why do you use tekken models instead tekken 2? the first is too old.
second question:is there any difference between psx and arcade version? ((((like, for example, the house of the death arcade and pc port version)))).

I don't use Tekken models anywhere I simply trying to write a tool that someone who's interesting could use to preview and export models to *.OBJ and use it for whatever purposes, and since I already wrote a similar tool for Tekken 2(TE2MV) thought to do the same for the first Tekken, next probably I'll try to do something for Tekken 3...
second question:is there any difference between psx and arcade version? ((((like, for example, the house of the death arcade and pc port version)))).
I honestly don't know...

Why did you bother to make the models of t.1  also exportable if you did the same thing with t.2 models?
If I have the models of tekken 2 being superior on all aspects why would I want the tekken 1 models?
For example, marshall law model of tekken 1 is trash compared to marshall from tekken 2

@CHEV, I think you're completely missing the point here. This tool was made specifically to view and export Tekken 1 models to .obj format, which is truly a great thing. Tekken 2/3 being of higher quality have no relevance. This is Tekken 1. People may want these models for preservation purposes among many others and Leo has made it possible to extract them.

This is a good thing, and the more games supporte, the better. Great job on the tools!

What do you mean with preservation purposes? Explain it.

Because I like making tools for the games and because I can, another reason probably because it was hard to do cause for a long time I couldn't fix bugs in decompressing models and some other data but at the end I've manage to fix it.

If I have the models of tekken 2 being superior on all aspects why would I want the tekken 1 models?

Agree models of Tekken 1 comparing to Tekken 2 are bad, especially now that I had a close look at them, but still I believe  the game deserve a tool/s and I don't regret of spending a lot of time on it.

This is a good thing, and the more games supporte, the better.
Amen!!!

Great job on the tools!
Thanks a lot!  ;)

Thanks DXP! Nice to see you again! :)

BTW I'm almost done with the tool so I'll release it soon...

Don't get my wrong, i'm not telling you what to do with your time.
I just want to understand why this game deserve so much.
Is b/c is it the first game of the series? Nostalgia? Was revolutionary? All?
If shinji mikami and company canceled RE 1.5 telling that was a pile of garbage, i mean c'mon, they desliked their own work, why namco could not dislike T1 in many ways despite his releasing?

Sure the fact that it was first game of the series played some role, but one of the main reason it because I wanned to make 3D model viewer for all three Tekken's, and now that I'm done with the first one and the second only Tekken 3 is left.

By the way the tool is available now.

Virtua fighter 2 was released in 1994 for the sega model 2 arcade system, the same year that tekken come out on arcades. And graphically, VF2 is far superior. I preffer the tekken series but you must probably know that VF is the father of 3d fighting games, it deserve more recognition.

Fix the name, there is a "m" instead a "h" Yosmimitsu in 3dsmax(rendered):
