Have decided to work on a tool that could view 3D models from the game, right now I've documented the basic of 3D format that the game use and wrote this small tool that can view parts from the model, hope at some point I'll made a release cause right now I'm experimenting ;D
DC1MV: (Dino Crisis 1 Model Viewer)

It's a great job! I wanted to like, but it did not work :(

Cool, my favorite game DC 1 and 2.
The tool is for PC version or psx1?

It should work with PC and PSX.
@TTEMMA
The source is available to you if you want it since you Delphi user as myself ;)

@Leo2236

Awesome! I want to learn how to do stuff like this but i dont know where to start.

@TTEMMA check your PM.

Thanks and Welcome!
First off all I use Delphi/Pascal to create all my tools and if that programing language it's fine with you, I can suggest you some sites to get start with(I'm usually use Delphi 7 Personal, cause it more than enough to create from a simple file/extractor to complex 3D viewer/editor ):
http://www.delphibasics.co.uk
http://delphi.about.com/
I've learned a lot from those site!

This is interesting Leo. How to get Delphi 7? I saw it's a bit old right now. But I want that Delphi 7 thing ;)
-
Using visual studio community 2015, express, java, C#, C++ ,can handle 3d editors for you? Or is hard?

If I'm not wrong Delphi 7 is free here and a while so posting the link would be ok I suppose, so here's the link:

Delphi 7 was released back in 2002, so it's old but good developing soft...
-
Thank you Leo :) Now I nedd to check out about the compability with win 7.
-
No problems, I think D7 should run fine on Win7...
-
Sorry but I have decided to not work on this tool for the time being(have lost interest), but I've start working on Countdown Vampires tool/s, have some progress already...

Sad to read this. Can u explain us why u lost the interest on DC?
Anyway, If u want, u should shared ur knowledge to others.
This way they can help u and accelerate the process. Pretty obvious.
Is too much work for one person.
-
Sad, but respecting the reason:)
-
Can u explain us why u lost the interest on DC?
Well there isn't much to explain, right after I've made the first test tool(screenshot in the first post) for some reason(don't remember what it was) I've stop working on it for a few days and usually when that happen it last a while but like I've said it's just for the time being so I'll return to it soon or later.
Anyway, If u want, u should shared ur knowledge to others.

Sure, I will post soon the info(that I've found so far) about 3D models that DC use...
-
All right, just take it easy leo. I see that u focus on to many games.
Not offence, but some of them, for me, aren't important.
But yeah, u are on ur own right, at the end u take ur time creating this tools and shared them with us.
U deserve recognition (or maybe u just have it already) for making all that fantastic RE123's tools. Of course, other members from invision free and other forums too.
Many of them contributed to the community and some help u too.
Would be unfair not give them credit.
U give some credits anyway.
Not to mention people from xentax, zophar and other awesome sites, sharing valuable stuff.

Any chance you might work on this again? It's a long shot but thought I'd bring this up again. Does DC1 use the same bones system as RE3? If so, it doesn't look like we'll be able to export animations. But even just having the model viewer handy would be pretty awesome. It's a shame DC doesn't just use the EMD format RE uses, would be so much easier...

I believe the DC1 and 2 the characters use bones, in DC 2 i know it use bones, you can see in mesh deforming.

Sure I've plans to work on it again can't say when though cause I'm working on some other project when I'm in a mood.
As about bones, just like tugaevil15 I also believe that the game use bones basically I'm sure, at least the main characters and I don't see any way right now to extract animations...

Any news about this tool or other Dino Crisis tools in general?
-
Sadly but there isn't any news, I haven't work on it and I don't know if I'll ever do... All I can do is to release the source if you or someone else want it?
-
Sure thing. Thanks for your answer.
-
Here is the link for the source:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmRvpG6REwddge1Gt8zkNwpjsyvIBg
Note: This WIP source isn't the latest I was working on(it missing texturing), I've lost the latest source after HDD crash a while ago, also the package include decompressor for Dino crisis...

Thanks a lot, Leo!

I've been trying again to look at the 3D model formats of the game as of lately but I am still not able to do anything yet (Even with the DC1MV source code). Luckily room textures are easily editable thanks to Gemini, and lately I've been able to replace the textures of the door animations as well but still no idea how I am supposed to edit the geometry of the rooms, unfortunately (And I really need that for my Beta-Restoration mod I'm working on)
