-RE2RDTE v0.1b- (Resident Evil 2 RDT Editor) Release Date: 6/2/2015

About:
It's an editor for Resident Evil 2 RDT files... 

Folder "Extra" contains:
RE2RDTES.7Z: Contains script for 3dsma 8+ to import/export camera from/to RE2RDTE...
ROOMCUT.7Z: Contains special version of ROOMCUT.BIN with all[15] cameras BG and mask ready to edit plus some extra rooms...
START_SCENE.7Z: Contains start scene for 3dsmax 8+ which include LEON model and one camera with proper setting, build your scene dimensions based on LEON model...

Note:
The tool may have some bugs like not able to open some rooms...

Just wanned to say that eventually I've start working on the tool a few days ago, and right now I'm writhing code for extractor/re-packer of RDT files(the most important part imo), once it's done I'll move on to the next stage probably SCA editor ;)

I think I'm done or almost done with the extractor/re-packer of RDT files(the hardest part imo), have tried it with many room's and it seems that it work just need to do some fixes after that I'll start working on SCA editor ;)

Have start working on boundary(SCA) editor, and heres the first video :)

Theres many things that need to be done before it could be called a real SCA editor, so it's in WIP stage :)

I think I'm done(or almost done) with the "SCA Editor - Boundary Editor" just need some small fixes maybe adds after that probably today or tomorrow I will start working on "RVD Editor - Switch/Zone Editor" ;)

Basically my goal was to create (SCA, RVD, RID, PRI editors) and then release the RE2RDTE but we'll see about that. As about other editors you've mention I have them in mind but I think it's too early to say anything about that, I just wanned to finish editors I've planned :)

I think I'm almost done with the RVD Editor - Zone/Switch Editor, just doing some tests and it seems that it work, I guess I'll do more tests and if all goes well I will start working on RID Editor - Camera Editor :)

You know, I think you can edit .RVD data more easily if you're watching .SCA data. Is possible to add a buttom or something to show .SCA data when you is editing .RVD data?

Is just a humble opinion, I not want to bother you, I love all your tools! :)

You've never bothered me, as about showing boundaries in other editors It's something that I was planning to do anyway but maybe later it's just that I wanna to create basics to editors and then the rest ;)

Small update, have add the ability to view SCA in RVD editor plus some other small improvements :)

I guess the next few days I'm gonna start working on RID eDITOR - Camera Editor ;)

Can't wait to see .RID editor! probably it will be similar/equal to RE1 RDTExplorer one? I mean, it will show you each camera angle and you will be able to load backgrounds, and etc?

Something like that, but I'll try to do more like showing SCA and RVD datas, we'll see :)

Oh man, that sound great!! I hope you can do it, but if you can't, I'm happy with what you decide to do. ;)

EDIT:
Another question I was thinking about to ask you (but I forget about it :P ), is, can be possible that you can add a option to load the model of Leon (for example) in RID editor?

You know, it can be very useful, load the 3D model of a character to have a reference when you is editing camera angles. ;)

This is just a idea I just want to share with you, what you think? :)

Hey Leo! I just want to share this info about 1.5 boundary types, just in case you decide to add 1.5 RDT support in a future ;) :

Maybe you know this, but RE1.5 RDT format is almost the same than RE2, just be careful not to confuse IGAS RDT format with Vanilla RDT format, if you have not the vanilla ones, just give ask me it and I will send it to you. ;)

No problem, I'm glad to know my info help. ;)

RE1.5 and RE2 share a lot of same formats, this are all I know:
.RID
.RVD
.LIT
.FLR
.BLK
.MD1
.VH
.VB

.SCD is very similar, almost indentical, however, it have small differences.

.MSG is very similar too, but it have small differences.

.PRI is very similar too, but it have small differences.

Can be great if you can add support for 1.5 some day, I assured that I personally would give it a very good use. ;)

About the vanilla it's the same version that you've send me a while ago on the old forum(don't know if you remember) or it's some other version? If it's some other version then send it :)
I can't remember which version I send you years ago, but anyway, I will send you a download link to 1.5 vanilla build by PM. ;)

And just in case, here is something that can be useful for you, is MarkGrass's BIOFAT, it have 1.5 RDT extraction/repacker support:

By the way what exactly BLK structure does? I've tried to edit it while was working on RE2RDTE v0.1b but couldn't see any differences, it's not used by the game(RE2)!?  ???

This tool is amazing! Thank you so much for this Leo, I cannot even imagine the amount of time that went into making this!

I could not find much info after a few days of searching, so I wanted to also post for other people who might have my same issue. For getti g the red arrow to work I had to not use compatibility mode for windows XP with windows 10. For some reason this either makes the red arrow jump around like crazy, or it just sits and does not move.

To get it working might be difficult for some people since it seems to be version specific. First I had to install the UK version of RE2, if you arent a collector or dont already have it, this might be hard to find, sorry. You can tell by the name of the .exes to launch the game. The rtd folder will also be called "rdp" not rdu or rda...

After this, if you use Claire (for some reason Leon doesnt work for me, but Claire work for both the Pl0 and Pl1 maps...) and then load the .rdt file in RE2RDTE, you should see the red arrow move around as you move with Claire!

I should mention too, that I am doing this in a virtual drive running Windows XP Mode. For some reason, as I mentioned if you run it on Windows 10, with campatibility for Windows XP SP3, it somehow breaks the connection with RE2DTE. It will work in Windows 10, as Claire IF you leave the settings without compatibility mode, but i could not get the game window above smallest setting this way, which was far too small for me. Running in VM in Windows XP Mode though i could make it 640 and still see the arrow!

Hopefully this help someone in the future as it took some time to figure it out. Thank you again Leo for such a fantastic tool! I mod some other ps1 games (FFT) as well and seeing that you made tools like this for Resident Evil for both PS1 and PC is amazing. You are a gentleman and a scholar!

One question I have for other people now. Does anyone know how to get the 3dsmax scripts/tools to work in Blender or Maya or anything? I cannot afford 3dxmax, but the tools seem like they would save a lot of time from trial and error lol.
